SAMMY (SAMSON) is a 5-year-old husky/saluki mix. He came to me as a 1-year-old from a rescue in Regina, Saskatchewan, where he had been found roaming as a stray. He was neutered at 1 yr old, has a clean bill of health, is up to date on all shots, and his teeth were cleaned in April 2017.
Perhaps as a consequence of running wild in his early life, Sammy is sometimes shy, but he is extremely goodnatured with other dogs, cats, children, and adults. He is flat out the sweetest dog I have ever known. His grasp of commands is more limited than August’s, but he’s well-behaved. He gets about an hour’s on-leash exercise a day, plus off-leash exercise (he LOVES to run) as often as possible. He’s well house-trained (although I wouldn’t leave him for more than 8 hours at a time), doesn’t destroy stuff, loves riding in the car, and is fine at the vet’s.
He and August play together a lot, mostly wrestling. Funnily enough, at dog parks they don’t do this, either with other dogs or with one another — it seems to be a private game.
